The Big Picture
26th Aug 2010 | Posted in: Blog 1

When you start a project, are you focused on the individual pieces, or the project as a whole? So many times as photographers, designers, writers, developers, etc. we lose sight of the big picture of a project.

As a photographer, if you are asked to take photos for the header of a website and everything you shot was vertical… you probably lost track of the big picture.

As a writer, if you were asked to write a press release for a product launch, but you really wrote a 3 page essay on the timeline of it’s development… you probably lost sight of the big picture.

As a designer, if you were asked to design a logo for a local pest control company, and you spent your time designing the best pest control t-shirts and coffee mugs anyone had ever seen… well you get the point.

It is our job as a creative agency to not just be interested in what we like to do, but how those elements come together to create a message for our clients.

We should always be able to see how our element interacts with the finish line. How is our client (or how are you) going to use these elements in the project? Once you can see what they look like when they are finished, it is much easier and less time consuming to develop them.
