When What’s Up Cupcake came to us to talk about their idea for a boutique cupcake shop, it would be an understatement to say we were excited. That might have been the box of cupcakes that owner Dana Nichols brought with her talking, though.
Needless to say, we took on the project with utter enthusiasm (possibly in the hopes of another box of cupcakes). We began researching, organizing, and planning, and came up with our strategy on how to accomplish our goals.
What’s Up Cupcake isn’t a supermarket bakery. It’s not 9th grade Home Ec. It’s a full-fledged boutique shop that offers the kinds of cupcakes you only wish your parents had gotten you for your 12th birthday. What’s Up Cupcake offers a plethora of flavors, enough to make even the pickiest eater struggle to choose just one. It’s fun, carefree, unique, and, dare we say, magical? We dare.
During the design process, these were the things we needed to keep in mind. This isn’t Corporate America. The logo needed to have that type of playful personality to it, as well as exhibiting a sense of blithe professionalism. And this is the final logo we came up with. Definitely serious, but in a playful manner. It’s almost like a gang of cupcakes is coming for you. And you think that you might be in trouble because they look like they mean business, but then you remember, they’re cupcakes…delicious cupcakes…and everything is ok again. In fact, you think to yourself, a cupcake does sound pretty good right about now.
After the logo was accomplished, we began the web comps. So here’s a sneak peak. Take a look and see if you like the direction we’re headed.
Stayed tuned for more low-fat updates.
